International Scientific Conference

"In memory of prof. Andrzej Zawiślak -

CREATION, NEW THINKING,
INNOVATION IN MANAGEMENT "

On Saturday, October 22, 2016, the International Scientific Conference "In memory of prof. Andrzej Zawiślak CREATION, NEW THINKING, INNOVATION IN MANAGEMENT ”. The main aim of the conference was to honor the memory of the former Rector of WSZ-SW prof. dr. hab. Andrzej Zawiślak on the anniversary of his death and presentation of his scientific achievements with elements of reflection on creation, new thinking in management and innovation.

The conference was opened by the Rector of the Warsaw School of Management - University, Dr. Eng. Waldemar Gajda presenting the achievements of prof. Zawiślak in his scientific, political and professional activity. Then the letter of prof. related dr hab. Andrzej Koźmiński, President of the Kozminski University, who was the supervisor of the doctoral thesis of prof. dr hab. Andrzej Zawiślak, and later collaborated with him for many years in the field of research. Prof. dr hab. Andrzej Koźmiński characterized in it the profile of Professor Zawiślak as an outstanding scientist and showed his contribution to science in the field of economics and management. He was followed by prof. dr hab. Elżbieta Mączyńska - President of the Polish Economic Society, who discussed the cooperation of prof. dr hab. Andrzej Zawiślak from PTE, reminded him of the award of the College of Enterprise Sciences Award for the best work in the field of enterprise science in 2009-2011 for the book "About quantum, markets and economists. Ikebana of astonishment and paradox ”.

Another person who mentioned the Professor was the President of the Business Center Club, Marek Goliszewski. Prof. Zawiślak was the founder of this organization and its honorary member. The president of BCC quoted an article by prof. Zawiślak in the magazine "Confrontations", which at the end of the previous regime was a forum for dialogue between the opposition and the authorities. In this article, the professor expressed the opposition's aspirations for systemic changes in Poland. Soon after, after the Round Table talks, Andrzej Zawiślak was elected in 1989 a Member of the Contract Sejm of the 1992st term on behalf of the Solidarity Citizens' Committee. In this way, prof. Zawiślak joined public activity and was involved in creating changes taking place in our country. In 10, he became the minister of industry and trade in the government of Prime Minister Jan Krzysztof Bielecki. Therefore, he had the opportunity to meet leading Polish politicians, including prime ministers. Three of them took part in our conference, which gave it a great deal of importance. They were the Prime Ministers of the Republic of Poland, Jan Krzysztof Bielecki and Waldemar Pawlak, and Deputy Prime Minister Marek Pol. The memoirs presented by them allowed for getting to know the well-known and less known aspects of Professor Zawiślak's activity in the public sphere, as well as showing his features as a politician, state activist and scientist. They devoted the most attention in their speeches to the merits of prof. Andrzej Zawiślak as the chairman of the Extraordinary Parliamentary Committee in the Contract Sejm, which in a very short time drafted XNUMX bills, the entry into force of which changed the economic system of Poland.

The Prime Ministers of the Republic of Poland, Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, Waldemar Pawlak and Deputy Prime Minister Marek Pol, together with prof. Elżbieta Mączyńska and President Marek Goliszewski, then took part in the Discussion Panel. It consisted of three blocks: political, economic and scientific. The participants of the Panel referred to the views expressed by Professor Zawiślak in his books, especially in the above-mentioned "About quantum, markets and economists. Ikebana of surprises and paradoxes "and at work"Economy. The science of provisional rights.  The political block concerned the understanding of democracy and sovereignty, Poland's relations with the European Union and Polish interest in relations with other countries. In the economic block, the panellists commented on the Professor's views on economic intervention, industrial policy and domestic industry. In the third scientific block, they expressed their view on the laws of economics and assessed the practical usefulness of science on economic issues.

After the end of the Panel, one of the auditoriums of the Warsaw School of Management - the University of Warsaw was officially named after Professor Andrzej Zawiślak. At the same time, an exhibition of photos presenting the Professor in various periods of his life was opened in this auditorium.
