The profile of this year's laureate mgr inż. Artur Martyniuk was presented by the chairman of the Chapter, prof. dr hab. Eng. Waldemar Gajda, Coordinator of the Polish Industrial Lobby prof. dr hab. Paweł Soroka, Vice-President of the Trade Union of Railway Engineers Sławomir Centkowski and Secretary of the Chapter, Eng. Zygmunt Dębiński. They congratulated the awardees.
Here is the outline of the winner:
MSc. Artur Martyniuk is a full-time MBA graduate of IESE Business School in Barcelona. He holds Masterclass diplomas in Private Equity & Venture Capital from Harvard Business School and London Business School. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Lublin University of Technology. He started his professional career in 1998 in the consulting company KPMG. He worked in the Swiss branch of Goldman Sachs, and in 2009 he took the position of director in the Madrid headquarters of Bank Santander. In the years 2013-2020 he was the director of financial consulting at Deloitte. From May 2020 to April 2023, he was the president of the management board of POLREGIO. He is also a member of the board of the Association of Railway Employers in Poland.
As the President of the Management Board of POLREGIO SA - the largest rail passenger carrier in Poland - he led the company out of a very difficult economic situation, and despite unfavorable market conditions, including rising energy prices, under the management of President Martyniuk, the company has been continuously profitable since 2020. Despite the pandemic, the continuity of transport has been ensured - especially important for people who had to travel during lockdowns. Two years later, the number of passengers returned to pre-pandemic levels (and a 2021% increase compared to 40). Thanks to the activities of Artur Martyniuk, long-term agreements with provinces were signed, securing the company's finances in the long term, and POLREGIO came out of the definition of a company in a difficult economic situation. In most voivodeships, the contracts were concluded for a period of 10 years, until December 2030. Thanks to the concluded long-term transport contracts, Polregio gained not only a guarantee of revenue stability for practically the entire decade, but above all time to prepare for effective competition with entities from abroad in open tenders in a few years.
During the years of Artur Martyniuk's presidency, POLREGIO intensified activities related to rolling stock investments, both in terms of the purchase of new vehicles and the modernization of vehicles already owned. Thanks to these activities, the successive development of the regional railway in Poland has been ensured, which fulfills an important social mission, providing - in close cooperation with local governments - affordable public transport for every inhabitant of Poland. POLREGIO is a railway carrier, often the only one for millions of Poles, especially those living outside agglomerations. Thus, the company prevents and eliminates transport exclusion in regions where it is the biggest problem on a national scale. If not for POLREGIO, there would probably be no public transport in such areas at all. Inhabitants of regions located along such lines are often at risk of transport exclusion (and thus social exclusion).
Since 2020, the situation of POLREGIO employees has been steadily improving. President Martyniuk negotiated a contract for the first in the company's history very advantageous private health insurance for employees and their families. After meeting the salary demands and implementing the increase in 2022, the average salary in the company increased significantly. In 2023, the implementation of the increase in the basic salary from 1 January resulted in the average salary in the company reaching even 112% of the average salary in the enterprise sector.
Artur Martyniuk has transformed POLREGIO, which is an important element of the national economy, providing mobility to millions of Poles every year. Thanks to the effective regional railway, residents of smaller towns can also study and work
in large urban centres, but also to build family and social bonds. Despite the changes that have taken place on the rail passenger transport market since the beginning of the XNUMXst century and the problems the company has faced over the years, POLREGIO has maintained its position as the largest passenger railway carrier in Poland.
It is worth emphasizing that being the president of POLREGIO SA, mgr inż. Artur Martyniuk cooperated with the Warsaw School of Management-University. A large group of employees of this company graduated from our University.
